Funny you should post that 'cos I've just seen the male greenfinch on the niger feeder for the first time too. They feed chewed up seed to their young so maybe they see it as more suitable baby food?
i'm sure they will karen, didn't know that sumac, probably doesn't need as much chewing. denis
