goldies and sparrows

we have been putting mealworms in the mealworm feeder for quite a while now (at least 4 months), and up until now only the robin has found his way in (the female will not go in), we think that the sparrows have been watching the robin and decided that they will have some of that. we only get the sparrows from may - early october, does anybody know why that should be.

Great shots denis, love the mealworm feeder! Never seen one like that. i must get one! The only reason i havent got one is because of the sturks!!! i think the other birds wouldnt stand a chance! x

they dont half get through them sheila, yes geordie the 2 pence coins are fine tuning to let the little birds in and keep the rest out, the starlings can't get in karen, thanks for all your comments.

I've only tried feeding live mealworms a couple of times Denis (usually stolen from our pet lizards pantry) they last about 5 seconds out in our garden and are far too expensive for us to keep up the stash. Our birds have to make do with soaked dried ones, the lizard won't touch the dried ones even when they're soaked so he gets the live ones along with his live crickets YUKK!!!! I know!!!!

thanks jayne, don't think i could handle live crickets though.
