gardening again today, took these shots early this evening, the mrs took the one of the bathing sheppy, she is quite getting into watching the birds.

laying a lawn

the wife and i are off work for a week, we decided to lay a lawn, we had astro turf before because our bulldog was allergic to grass, now he is not with us anymore we have decided to go back to grass, as well as being wildlife friendly it looks much better.

bought a bird bath on e bay, the birds love it, had 4 sparrows at one stage all having a dip at the same time.

i've been trying to get a photo of this little fellow for the past week or so.

watched them for a couple of hours this evening, while she is flying to and fro with nesting material, he's just looking on, she stopped for a few minutes to feed on the nut feeder.

we have been gardening all day but the birds didn't seem to mind us, it was only this evening that we noticed the bluetits going in and out of the sparrow terrace box with nesting material, as this box has three entry holes and therefore three separate nest boxes i didn't put a webcam in any of them, will just have to keep taking the photos.

looking out of the study window this evening and i saw the culprit, or at least one of them.

sparrows and sheppies

the sparrows have returned to our garden after not being seen all winter, the sheppies crept in on the act.

new robin box

our granddaughter stayed with us yesterday, she is 10 going on 50, we decided to make a new robin box with a difference, as the box is so wide we had to put 2 webcams in to cover each corner, took photos from inside and out, hope that when the ivy grows (which is in the trough on top), it will get covered and the robins (just maybe) will nest there, might take a while.

was up early this morning, repotted the tomato plants and planted the strawberries before 6-30, sat down to do a spot of birdwatching ,and was rewarded with these 2 photos.

this evening

finally got a photo of a magpie, albeit not a good one, also got a pic of what i think is a female greenfinch.

took a couple of photos this evening of my beloved sheppies, have grown quite fond of them now that they can't get at the live mealworms, the one in the tree is just about to tuck into the peanut butter, which they can't get enough of.
